Extended Abstract: PET-MRI in Neuroimaging: technique role in Alzheimer Disease
نویسنده
چکیده
Hybrid or multimodal imaging has provided excellent opportunities to meet the needs inherent in the management of neurodegenerative diseases, especially in Alzheimer Disease context. PET-MRI equipment for simultaneous data acquisition attempts to address this challenge by bridging the limitations of PET-CT at the brain level and improving the results achieved through a simultaneous real-time combination of quantitative neurophysiological information from PET and accurate MRI morphological information, with greater radiological safety. Therefore, the PET-MRI technique presents high potential for diagnostic and follow-up studies. The aim of this review was to compile the main advantages related with PET-MRI along with the detection of the main challenges which remain to be resolved for a full clinical validation of the technique in Neuroimaging field are identified. Detection of Alzheimer\\\\\\\'s Disease using Multitracer Positron Emission Tomography Imaging
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by impaired glucose metabolism and demonstration of amyloid plaques. Individual positron emission tomography tracers may reveal specific signs of pathology that is not readily apparent on inspection of another one. Combination of multitracer positron emission tomography imaging yields promising results. In this paper, 57 Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging ini...
متن کاملNeuroimaging in Iran: A Review
ABSTRACTNeuroimaging allows noninvasive evaluation of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the brain. It is widely used for diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment evaluation of neurological disorders as well as understanding functions of the brain in health and disease. Neuroimaging modalities include X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emis...
متن کاملThe diagnostic difference between 18F- FDG PET and 99mTc-HMPAO SPECT perfusion imaging in assessment of Alzheimer's disease
Introduction:Brain imaging with F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography or Tc-99m hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime (99mTc-HMPAO) SPECT is widely used for the evaluation of Alzheimer's dementia (AD); we aim to assess superiority of one method over the other. Methods: Twenty four patients with clinical diagnosi...
متن کاملVisual-statistical interpretation of (18)F-FDG-PET images for characteristic Alzheimer patterns in a multicenter study: inter-rater concordance and relationship to automated quantitative evaluation.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The role of (18)F-FDG-PET in the diagnosis of Alzheimer disease is increasing and should be validated. The aim of this study was to assess the inter-rater variability in the interpretation of (18)F-FDG-PET images obtained in the Japanese Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, a multicenter clinical research project. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study analyzed 274 (1...
